Class Content: This is a special, one-time, and very interactive class, specifically designed to emphasize increased fluency through a thorough review and intense question & answer drills. Students are encouraged to review all grammatical patterns, verb conjugations, and vocabulary studied thus far in Genki I and Genki II, prior to the start of classes and during the semester.
Students should feel comfortable with Hiragana, Katakana, and basic kanji; a moderate number of kanji will be introduced. Additionally, we will continue to advance sentence and question structures that lead to holding intermediate level conversations. Of course, cultural aspects of the Japanese will also be introduced to facilitate learning the language.
Class: Class minimum is 3 for the class to make and maximum is 15 participants.
Textbook: Genki II, 3rd Edition (ISBN 978-4-7890-1732-9); available from Amazon, B&N, etc.
Note: Please be sure you have or purchase the textbook; other materials, such as the workbook, writing books, etc., are not required for class and are optional for your personal use.
Instructor: Roger Pratt. Mr. Pratt graduated from Sophia University (上智大学国際部) in Tokyo, has a Master’s in East Asian Studies from FSU, lived in Japan for 19 years, and has previously taught Japanese for JASSA and at UTSA.
